Spring Has Sprung

Spring in full effect this week as the storm track remains well to the north.  This is the time of year where the cool ocean temperatures interact with the warming atmosphere to create the marine layer that is so ubiquitous during the spring and early summer months here in Southern California.  We’ll get a taste of that this week as a few days have low clouds and fog forecast for coastal Ventura County.  Each day, this is expected to clear by mid-day, though a few days we’ll also experience some increased cloud cover courtesy of a few low-pressure systems passing to the north.

The warmest day of the next ten occurs tomorrow as high pressure reaches full strength and offshore flow peaks.  Highs are expected to reach the mid to upper 70s near the beaches, low 80s around the inland coast, and near 90 in the warmest inland valleys of Ventura County.   Highs could reach the low to mid-90s further inland, in places like the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys.

High pressure moves on and temperatures quickly return to normal for a brief time Tuesday and Wednesday before falling back below average for the latter half of the week into next weekend as a series of low-pressure troughs turn flow back onshore.  The storm track may drift back to the south during this period, and there’s a chance one of these low-pressure systems may brush the area next Sunday, leading to a slight chance of light rain, and there’s a potential for more unsettled weather early next week as well.  Stay tuned.
