The potent cold front swept the region around 1 a.m. this morning, bringing a few hours of steady, moderate rain, and a brief moment of heavy rain. As of 9 a.m., I see no reports of flash flooding or other problems in the burn areas. Just because the sun is out doesn’t mean we can let our guard down. The atmosphere remains unstable today, so there is a high likelihood of a passing shower of thunderstorms through this afternoon. And of these storms, some could be capable of brief, heavy rain, strong gusty winds, small hail, or even a weak tornado. Remain alert for any of these hazards. A Flood Watch remains in effect until 6 p.m. this evening.
Gusty west winds are forecast to develop in the wake of the front as well, and a Wind Advisory goes into effect at noon. Another impulse of energy is expected to pass through the area on Friday, bringing additional rain. The weather is forecast to clear up for the weekend.
